Your Brake Pads are Essential to Performance

Keeping your brakes in good condition is a must in terms of safety, and at the heart of your braking system are your brake pads. Because they are what gives your vehicle its stopping power, they are naturally going to experience some of the most severe wear and tear. When it does finally become time for them to be replaced, it can be helpful to understand how the system works.

Your stopping power comes from your brake pads squeezing the rotors as they spin. This happens due to the calipers that house the pads being compressed by the brake fluid that is forced through the system from the master cylinder when you step on the brake pedal. As you can imagine, the pads making contact with rotors spinning that fast creates a lot of friction and heat which add to the rate in which the pads wear down.
